Good to know.
Do I need MIDI?
No. Standalone software displays scales over USB without MIDI or music production software. The 269 EUR bundle adds a Bitwig extension for MIDI feedback.
What computer and software do I need?
The current Python application supports Windows and Linux. DreamScaler needs a computer, USB and external power for the strip. macOS compatibility is expected but has not yet been verified. The software is being revised; final setup details will follow.
Will it work with my keyboard?
The strip can be attached to a suitable surface and covers a maximum length of 1 metre. Full-keyboard coverage depends on the width of your keys. LED-to-key alignment is configurable for different layouts. The Arturia KeyLab 49 MKII and 61-key configurations serve as starting templates.
Does the light cover black keys too?
Yes. The strip has 144 LEDs per metre, allowing close alignment with white and black keys through a configurable layout.
Can I shorten the strip?
Yes. The maximum strip length is 1 metre. It can be shortened at marked cut points, with its layout adapted to the resulting length and position.
Can I use it on an acoustic piano?
Yes. Scale display works on an acoustic piano with room for the strip. The lights show the selected scale; they do not listen to or detect the notes you play.
Do I need Bitwig Studio?
No. Both bundles include standalone software for scale display. The 269 EUR bundle adds the Bitwig extension for MIDI feedback, which requires Bitwig Studio.
Is this a keyboard or a light system?
DreamScaler is an LED light system and companion software for a keyboard you already own. A keyboard and computer are not included.
Is the interactive preview the actual software?
No. It is a browser demo of scale colors and sound. It does not connect to your hardware or show the final app interface.
Where do you ship, and how much does it cost?
We ship from Czechia to Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania via Zásilkovna / Packeta. Shipping is quoted individually before payment. Send a kit request with your destination, and we will confirm the full price and expected dispatch time by email. After you accept, we send a PayPal link including shipping.
What do the two bundles include?
For 169 EUR, you get the complete kit and standalone software. For 269 EUR, you also get the Bitwig extension for MIDI feedback.
